Engage will ring in the new year with some first-time events as well as many successful programs that welcome new volunteers. We encourage all participants to seek new experiences, whether through a new Engage event or by joining an existing program for the first time. Here are some of the many opportunities that will kick off the new year.

Selfhelp Coffee House at JCC Manhattan – On Thursday, January 19, join other Engage members to volunteer with Selfhelp Community Services to serve lunch to Holocaust survivors and join them in conversation and dancing. Participate in one brunch and you will understand why Engage members volunteer again and again for this emotional and rewarding experience.  Register by emailing Susan Kranberg at

Learn About Engage Brunch in Brooklyn – On Sunday, January 22, attend the Learn About Engage Brunch in Brooklyn, held at BrooklynWorks, and meet representatives from Engage partner organizations including Met Council on Poverty, Reading Partners, and the Jewish Board of Family and Children's Services. During the brunch, volunteers will share their experiences with these organizations. Register online.

Engage Community Brunch at JCC Manhattan – Also on Sunday, January 22, attend an Engage Community Brunch at JCC Manhattan, where you can learn about Engage volunteer opportunities and get to know your fellow volunteers.  Register online

Learn About Engage – These sessions, held throughout the year, provide a format for learning about ongoing Engage programs and new partner organizations. They are the perfect setting to explore new volunteer opportunities. The next session will be on Monday, February 6. Register online.

Engage Men’s Group - Men looking for camaraderie and innovative ways to serve those in need, look no further. The Men’s Group has evolved from a traditional volunteer group to one creating new programs to help others and social events for themselves. The next meeting will be on Monday, January 16.  Register online.

Engage Women’s Group – This group provides a stimulating forum to explore new ways to build community and reach out to do service projects. One theme that has emerged from this group is that of women helping women and the group welcomes new members to join their mission. The meeting will be on Monday, January 23.  Register online.

These are just some of the many Engage programs that will take place in 2017. For detailed list of all the programs, dates, and locations, see the Engage programs list on the JCC Manhattan website.
