The Engage Women's Group is proud of its active members and acts of service. Below are some upcoming opportunities in various areas of giving back.

Jewish holidays are a great time to make sure the elderly in our midst feel the connection and care of the Jewish community.

The Women’s Group is baking hamentaschen for Purim to be donated to seniors at the New Jewish Home. A Passover seder is planned with Selfhelp Community Services.

Job Help

The Engage Women’s Group is inspired by helping other women. The JCC will continue its connection with Bottomless Closet, a nonprofit organization that helps women who rely on public assistance to find work. In March the group is holding another bag and accessories drive to assist job seekers in enhancing their professional  image. The group is also planning a day of self-improvement and personal empowerment for these women.

Trained Engage facilitators will be offering one-to-one support for advance care planning through the What Matters: Caring Conversations About End of Life program, providing practical and psychological support for these sensitive issues.

Tech Skills

The Women’s Group is partnering with the Men’s Group to teach basic technical skills to the National Council for Jewish Women members. The group will utilize the Men’s Group's Tech-Soup program model, whereby an open space is provided for onsite tutors to assist seniors in setting up and using their phones and computers.

The Women’s Group is currently planning social, cultural, and intellectual events to build community. Future plans include a Grand Central Station tour and boat expedition, as well as lectures.
