Are you a woman who is going through a life transition like one of these?
- Juggling family responsibilities.
- Entering or looking for an encore career.
- Becoming an empty-nester.
- Downsizing and moving from a home to an apartment.
- Thinking of ways to give back to the community.
If any of these descriptions sounds familiar, then you will definitely want to join the newly forming Engage Women’s Group, the brainchild of Leslie Katz, an Engage volunteer leader. While at the JCC, she had a conversation with a 50+ year-old woman, who is still working, who asked, “Why don’t you have anything for women at night?” A light bulb went off for Leslie. She brought the idea of creating a women’s group to a weekly Engage Leadership Team meeting, and the concept was met with overwhelming enthusiasm from our volunteers, as well as Rabbi Brian Fink and Susan Lechter, JCC Senior Director of Adult Programs.
Leslie formed a volunteer team working with Beth Gerson and myself to shape a vision for the group that embraces the idea of creating community among women by providing regular monthly opportunities to get together to talk about relevant issues for those experiencing change in an ever-changing world. Each month they will pose a provocative question followed by a group discussion. The participants will also explore ways to give back to the community through taking part in Engage volunteer projects.
The first meeting is scheduled for April 27, 5:30-7 pm. Don’t miss this opportunity to become involved, enjoy wine and cheese, and start a community of like-minded women. For more information contact Brian at email@example.com.
