May 3 was The Jewish Board of Family and Children's Services (JBFCS) First Annual Mitzvah Day, with 175 volunteer programs run throughout NYC, Long Island, and Westchester locations. The JCC Engage Men's Group rallied around the cause once more and spent a few hours socializing with residents at the Abraham Residence III on East 96th Street and First Avenue.

The Abraham Residence III is a 68-bed extended-stay community home that provides transitional housing for formerly homeless men and women with psychiatric disabilities. On-site rehabilitative services support residents' reintegration into the community.

The day began with a brief orientation with Jeffrey Clarke, the residence's director, and Hillary Abrams, the JBFCS volunteer services manager. Rabbi Brian Fink, along with six members of the Engage Men's Group, then spent a few hours with residents, taking walks along the East River, helping to prepare lunch in the kitchen, playing board games, and sharing casual conversation.

The Men's Group participants were Herb Brickman, Ken Sevitsky, Reed Corderman, Michael Bayer, Sy Sadinoff, Howard Rosof, and Ron Brayer.

Hats off to the Engage Men's Group, who surely put the M in Mitzvah!
